Specification Includes Terminal
More power with an ideal combustion cycle. Through superb ignition performance and spark voltage, non-firing and misfires under a variety of conditions has been greatly reduced. As a result, combustion conditions have improved dramatically, increasing engine output.
2. Built-in, Highly Reliable Resistor
All Iridium Racing plugs specify a resistor, and contain a highly reliable monolithic-type resistor that blocks noise that may affect electronic devices. (IW06 has no resistor.)
3. Highly Corrosion Resistant, Burnished Nickel Plating
With burnished nickel plating on the housing, a high level of corrosion resistance has been realized. Also, because the amount on the threads is low, the damage to the female thread in the cylinder is reduced.
4. 360° Laser Welding
The process used to join the Iridium tip is a highly reliable 360° laser welding process* that enables the plug to withstand all kinds of driving conditions.
* This 360° laser welding method has been patented in the U.S.A. and Japan (Japan Patent No.: 2921524, U.S.A. Patent No.: 6078129)
5. Spark Cleaning Pocket
Between the center electrode and the insulator, a small pocket has been opened around the tip clearance. When there is carbon fouling or deposition, this part will discharge and burn off the carbon, restoring electrical resistance. This technology is patented by DENSO (Japan Patent No. 2727558).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”9235″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″]6. Insulators for Racing
By using a new, strengthened insulator which was developed during numerous and repeated testing during racing trials, strength is improved by 20%.
7. Iridium Center Electrode – 0.4 mm Diameter
At 0.4mm in diameter, the Autopart Iridium Power center electrode tip is the world’s smallest. It produces the hottest, most concentrated spark, while requiring the lowest voltage (5,000 less volts to fire than conventional spark plugs).
8. Silicone Oil Coating
During the start of the race, non-starting from carbon fouling and carbon deposits can be fatal. To stop this, the insulator has been coated with silicone. Using the water repellency of silicone, the insulator surface is isolated from moisture and carbon, preventing a decrease in resistance.
9. All-Platinum Ground Electrode
Compared to the nickel alloy used in conventional spark plugs, the high melting point of platinum will reduce such problems as ground electrode melting and wear. Also, the 0.8mm Platinum alloy is welded on and gapped without any bending, reducing residual stress and increasing durability.
10. Housing End Face Chamfer
To improve the tolerance to severe combustion conditions, the housing end-face chamfer has been enlarged. This camfer allows for slight inaccuracies in tuning. Also, this design facilitates better gas flow, which improves its self-cleaning performance to prevent carbon fouling.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner gap=”0″ element_id=”442209″][vc_column_inner element_id=”413500″ css=”.vc_custom_1594024078968{margin-top: 20px !important;margin-bottom: 10px !important;}” crp=”480:i:i,480-768:i:i,768-1024:i:i,1024-1280:i:i,1280-1366:i:i,1366-1600:i:i,1600-1920:i:i”][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″]

Improved Performance
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″]Iridium Racing best demonstrates its performance improvement during acceleration. Iridium Racing has a 0.4 mm diameter iridium center electrode and a specially shaped ground electrode. These features combine to achieve higher ignitability and require lower spark voltage than ever before. This enables high-response driving with fewer misfires than under higher required voltage spark conditions, and fewer misfires when ignitability is difficult. As a result, acceleration improves in comparison with normal plugs.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″]

Just as the name suggests, the Autopart Iridium Racing spark plug is the premier choice for racing vehicles. For durability under the harshest, hottest conditions, preventative and self-cleaning technology, lower voltage requirements and the highest performance possible, you won’t go wrong with an Iridium Racing because there is nothing better.
What design features make the Iridium Racing stand out from competitors?
Autopart’s patented Iridium alloy, with an extremely high melting point, is used to create the world’s smallest center electrode, thus allowing the voltage requirements to be significantly reduced, and greatly improving ignition performance. Autopart’s Iridium alloy achieves its particular characteristics through a unique material structure and production method which bonds the alloy in the most reliable patented process.
Autopart’s patented 360° laser welding process to permanently affix the Iridium center electrode tip creates a bond so reliable the electrode resists wear even in the harshest racing conditions.
Platinum has a higher melting point than the nickel alloys used in conventional spark plug ground electrodes. Autopart’s 100% Platinum ground electrode reduces wear and problems such as melting the ground electrode under severe race conditions. In addition, the platinum alloy used in the 0.8mm ground electrode is produced without the need for fusing or bending, which increases durability and virtually eliminates residual stress.
A small gap has been developed around the tip of the center electrode and insulator. If the plug develops carbon build up and bridging occurs, electrical discharges in this section burn away any carbon deposits and clean the insulator. This technology has been patented by Autopart (Japanese patent No. 2727558)
For racing vehicles, starting problems caused by carbon deposits and bridged plugs before the start of a race can be fatal. To prevent this, a film of silicone oil is applied to the insulator. The water-repellent properties of the silicone oil keep the insulator surface free from moisture and carbon to prevent any losses in plug insulating performance.
A bevel on the side of the housing has been increased in size to improve resistance to abnormal combustion. Furthermore, they also make possible the discharge of residual gases and entry of fresh gases; improve self-cleaning performance, which helps reduce plug fouling.
Through Autopart’s involvement in motorsports, we have engineered a new insulator that is 20% stronger than insulators previously used, achieving unsurpassed reliability.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Reference” tab_id=”1594025507831-014c046d-f8ad”][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″ css=”.vc_custom_1594026451272{margin-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #e8e8e8 !important;}”]Aftermarket Performance Cylinder Head Application Chart[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″ css=”.vc_custom_1594099932482{margin-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #e8e8e8 !important;}”]Iridium Racing Insulator Height and Configuration[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″ css=”.vc_custom_1594099969449{margin-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #e8e8e8 !important;}”]Iridium Racing Spark Plug Components[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″ css=”.vc_custom_1594099990662{margin-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #e8e8e8 !important;}”]Iridium Racing Spark Plug Specifications[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″ css=”.vc_custom_1594026759013{margin-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #e8e8e8 !important;}”]Spark Plug Electrode Configuration Identification[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″ css=”.vc_custom_1594026810147{margin-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #e8e8e8 !important;}”]Spark Plug Installation[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″ css=”.vc_custom_1594026834348{margin-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #e8e8e8 !important;}”]Spark Plug Part Numbering[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″ css=”.vc_custom_1594026859259{margin-bottom: 10px !important;padding-left: 10px !important;background-color: #e8e8e8 !important;}”]The International Standards Organization (ISO)[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Installation Guides” tab_id=”1594025509749-d2d3cf52-88b0″][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″]Search by part number for the Autopart installation guides you’re looking for.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][vc_column_text animation_delay=”0″][wcas-search-form][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
